Logo Design Process

Our logo design process is structured to produce a result that works commercially, not just visually.

Discovery

Before any sketching begins, we learn your business, your customers, and your competitors. We establish the brand personality — professional, warm, bold, technical, premium, accessible — and identify visual references your team responds to and those you want to avoid. This stage prevents the most common failure mode in logo design: producing something the client does not recognise as their business.

Concept Development

We present 2–3 distinct logo directions, each with a written rationale explaining the design decisions behind it. You choose a direction and we refine it through two rounds of revisions, testing the logo at multiple sizes (from favicon to billboard) before any concepts are presented.

Refinement and Finalisation

The chosen concept is refined on colour, proportion, and spacing until it is production-ready. We test the logo in context — on website mock-ups, business card layouts, and dark and light backgrounds — before the final sign-off.

File Delivery

Final logo delivery includes vector source files (AI, EPS, SVG) and PNG exports in all required formats:

  • Full-colour version for standard use
  • Reversed (white/light) version for dark backgrounds
  • Monochrome version for single-colour print applications
  • Icon-only version for favicons, profile images, and app icons
  • Horizontal and stacked layout variants where applicable

Once the logo is approved, we build the full identity system around it. A brand identity system is the complete set of visual elements and rules that govern how your brand appears across every touchpoint.

  • Colour palette — Primary and secondary colours with hex codes (for digital), CMYK values (for print), and Pantone references (for brand-critical print applications). Approved colour combinations and contrast ratios for accessibility compliance.
  • Typography system — Primary typeface for headings and display use, secondary typeface for body text and UI, usage rules for hierarchy, size, and weight. Web-safe font alternatives and Google Fonts equivalents where relevant.
  • Iconography style — A defined visual style for icons used across the website, presentations, and marketing materials, ensuring consistency in line weight, corner radius, and visual language.
  • Image and photography guidelines — Direction on the type of photography, illustration, or imagery that fits the brand — and what does not. This prevents a coherent brand from being undermined by stock photos that feel completely off-brand.
